Simone Inzaghi has fallen under even more scrutiny this weekend after Inter fell to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Fiorentina at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday afternoon and reports claim that the 46-year-old could be out of a job before the end of the season.
The Nerazzurri have recorded back-to-back defeats following the 1-0 loss to Juventus prior to the international break and have only picked up three points from their last five Serie A outings, averaging 0.6 points per game over that period.
Inter are now also up to double digits for league losses this season and have not fallen to defeat 10 times over a full campaign since the 2016-17 season under Frank De Boer and Stefano Pioli.
Despite being third in the league on Sunday morning, Inter could slip out of the Serie A top four by the end of the weekend depending on the results of other games this afternoon.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that time is running out for Inzaghi to pick up results if he is to remain in charge at San Siro beyond the end of this season.
The Italian outlet claims that Inzaghi and Inter have three games in three different competitions coming up over the next 10 days to effectively save their season.
Up next for the Nerazzurri are crucial tests against Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-final, a trip to Salernitana in the league and then the all-important first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Benfica.
La Gazzetta believes that the Champions League is the only realistic lifeline remaining for Inzaghi to cling on to, and he would need to pull off a remarkable set of victories in the competition to have any hope of saving his job.
The report states that the exposure and financial bonuses of a run to the Champions League final are effectively the only thing that could convince the Inter board to keep Inzaghi on into next season.
Although, if results over the next three games fail to impress, then Inzaghi could be at risk of losing his job even sooner.
