The Argentina medical staff are reportedly concerned after Joaquin Correa was left with knee pain following the friendly win over the United Arab Emirates.
The 28-year-old Inter forward was called up by Lionel Scaloni for the World Cup in Qatar and played 45 minutes of the Albiceleste’s 5-0 friendly win over UAE yesterday, coming on at half time in place of Marcos Acuna. Although Correa found the back of the net in the 60th minute, it was an entirely positive game for the Nerazzurri man.
As reported by TyC Sports, Correa finished the friendly win over UAE with a persistent discomfort in his left knee. The issue immediately concerned the Argentina medical staff and they’re now monitoring his condition closely, anxious that the injury could affect his fitness ahead of the World Cup.
Argentina’s first game of the World Cup takes place on November 22 against Saudi Arabia.
The 28-year-old Correa has scored four goals in 19 caps for the Albiceleste and made three appearances for his country at the Copa America last year.
