Nicolo Barella reflected on his experiences in the world of football, pointing to the importance of overcoming difficulties.

The 25-year-old Italian is one of the most important players in Simone Inzaghi’s squad in Lombardy, being a key creator and metronome in the midfield. Last campaign, he scored four goals and provided 13 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions, continuing to grow into one of the best midfielders in Italy.

Speaking at the presentation of Inter’s new shirt, Barella looked back at his footballing journey and the obstacles he’s overcame.

“It’s a sport that’s made me come into contact with so many people, so many cultures, but surely what’s made me grow the most were the difficulties.

“In football there’s the good and there’s the bad, with time you take on board all you can and I’m trying to do that.”

Contracted to Inter until 2026, Barella is now one of the most valuable midfielders in Serie A, having an estimated market value of €70m. He’s also a core part of Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri squad and will continue to play a leading role for his country as the team go through a transition. The 25-year-old was a key part of the team that won Euro 2020.
