Inter are reportedly hoping to include a significant buy-back clause in a potential deal with Olympique de Marseille for 19-year-old talent Valentin Carboni, according to reports on Sunday.

The two teams are due to meet in the coming week to discuss the final details of a transfer for the 2024 Copa America winner.

The Nerazzurri maintain their position that they would ideally not like to lose the 2023-24 Monza loanee, but if they are pushed to sell, then they would let him go for a €40m fee.

Marseille, meanwhile, are looking to bring Carboni in on loan with an option to buy for €36m plus bonuses, which is not too far off Inter’s current valuation.

Inter want Carboni buy-back clause

To soften the blow of potentially losing one of their most exciting talents, Inter hope to include a buy-back clause in the region of €40m-€45m. That would be an exclusive buy-back clause for Inter, and not a release clause for any other side.

Carboni himself is still away on his holidays after Argentina’s victorious Copa America campaign this summer, but he is expected to land back in Italy towards the end of next week, which is when the two clubs could have an agreement fully wrapped up.
