Inter have released a statement thanking Andre Onana for his efforts in his singular season at the club following the announcement of his transfer to Manchester United on Thursday evening.

The club highlighted the team’s success in various competitions over the course of the 2022-23 campaign, praising Onana for his contributions along the way.

“After one season and two trophies, Inter and Andre Onana say goodbye,” Inter’s statement read.

“Having arrived in the summer of 2022, the Cameroonian goalkeeper was one of the key components of an intense and exciting year for the Nerazzurri. A season in which Onana proved himself to be an important part of the group that won the Supercoppa Italiana, the Coppa Italia and ended after a great journey in the Champions League final in Istanbul.

“He made 41 appearances for the Nerazzurri. Greetings and thanks from the entire Inter family go to Onana. Thanks, Andre.”

On twitter, the club’s account accompanied their statement with the caption: “In bocca al lupo. Forza Inter.”

Then, via the club’s social media channels, Inter released a highlights reel of Onana’s finest saves in an Inter shirt.

It is believed that Inter will receive a total package worth €55m from Manchester United as compensation for the loss of Onana, an enormous capital gain given that he joined for free just over a year ago.

Onana will now team up with Erik ten Hag once more, having worked together for five years at Ajax before both left the Dutch giants last summer.

The 27-year-old has signed a five year deal at Old Trafford, which commits his future to United until the summer of 2028.

United get their 2023-24 Premier League campaign underway with a visit from Wolves on August 14.
