Former President Massimo Moratti sparked the tidal wave of transfer speculation this week when he met with Chinese club owners Suning Group.
“They’re organising a big signing for the future, but they’ve never talked to me about Leo Messi,” he told news agency ANSA.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, the man in question is Roma centre-back Manolas, who is struggling to renegotiate his contract at the Olimpico.
Rumours in Greece already suggested Inter have been working with his agent for some time to line up a €40m summer swoop.
It would beat Premier League interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton.
However, reports in England and La Gazzetta dello Sport claim the target is Manchester City hitman Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero.
He has 18 goals in 23 competitive games this season, but City are finding life surprisingly difficult under Pep Guardiola.
The 28-year-old would form an incredible partnership with fellow Argentine Mauro Icardi upfront.
