There is still plenty of life left in the current Inter squad, insists technical director Marco Branca.

Thiago Motta, who left for Paris Saint-Germain in January, yesterday suggested that an era had come to an end at the club after they sold Samuel Eto’o in the summer.

“It’s premature to suggest that our wining cycle is over,” the former striker told Sky Sport Italia.

“Let us not forget that we did collect some very good results before our recent run of negative ones…

“We’ve lost a few games, some of which were against hardly irresistible sides.

“We also drew one in a shocking manner [4-4 against Palermo] which hit our confidence. However, we now have to just get that back.”

The Nerazzurri did get back into the Scudetto chase with seven consecutive wins in Serie A. That was until a slump in form which has seen them pick up just one point from the last 15 on offer.

The Beneamata are in action tonight when they face Marseille, in France, for the first leg of their last 16 Champions League tie.
