Stevan Jovetic’s appearance for Inter against Pescara in Serie A on Sunday has reportedly triggered a €14.5m payment to Manchester City.

Jovetic was one of three substitutes introduced by Frank de Boer in the 75th minute of the Inter’s 2-1 win at the Adriatico.

According to Calciomercato, the terms of Jovetic’s initial 18-month loan to Inter from City last summer stipulated that the arrangement would be made permanent once the forward played his first competitive game of 2016-17.

The Montenegrin’s loan was due to expire in December 2016, although the Nerazzurri would have nonetheless been obliged to keep him if they were above the Serie A relegation zone in December.

It now remains to be seen whether De Boer’s act was a signal of intent to keep the player, despite Inter’s reported attempts to offload him on deadline day last month and his exclusion from their Europa League squad.
