Following links to David Moyes, Inter are now being paired with Sampdoria’s Sinisa Mihajlovic as potential replacement for Walter Mazzarri.
The Nerazzurri’s consecutive League defeats heading into the international break has encouraged speculation that Erick Thohir is assessing all angles of the club’s situation, including possible candidates to take on the bench, should a change be necessitated.
According to Leggo, while the President currently retains confidence in Mazzarri, if the Nerazzurri fail to qualify for the Champions League then his position would be under threat. Speculation recently has been that a defeat to Napoli in Week 7 could accelerate the 53-year-old’s exit.
It is a ‘what if’ scenario that apparently also has a replacement already identified in Sampdoria’s Mihajlovic.
Mihajlovic spent the final two seasons of his playing career at Inter, before serving for another two on the bench as assistant to Roberto Mancini.
The Serbian, whose Samp sit third in Serie A currently undefeated, would not be the only candidate were Mazzarri to be shown the door, however, as Leggo reiterate David Moyes may also be in contention.
The former Manchester United manager will apparently be a guest at San Siro for Sunday’s clash with Napoli and encouraged links to La Beneamata recently with comments that he would be willing to work abroad.
