After Simone Inzaghi confirmed Benjamin Pavard is ‘an objective’ on the transfer market, it’s reported Inter increased their offer to €35m for the Bayern Munich defender.
According to Sky Sports Deutschland, the Nerazzurri contacted Bayern Munich today and made a new bid that reaches a total of €35m including performance-related bonuses.
That is a big improvement on the opening €25m, but still some way off the asking price, which is believed to be €40m plus add-ons.
However, the Italian sources have a slightly different view of the situation.
Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia both believe the offer is €25m plus bonuses for a total of €30m.
There are nonetheless signs of significant progress, for instance in this afternoon’s press conference, coach Inzaghi did confirm that Pavard was a transfer target for Inter.
Another hint is that there are reports Pavard will be left on the bench for this evening’s Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen.
There is also good news that Manchester United appear to have withdrawn their interest in the 27-year-old France international.
His contract with Bayern Munich only runs to the end of the season, which is why Inter believe they can get the deal done significantly cheaper.
Pavard was purchased from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2019 for €35m.
I don’t understand these moves for samardzic and pavard. Inter was already covered with Sensi in midfield. Cuadrado and Dumfries hold down the right back role. They should be looking at a striker and a centre back.
