Inter have dismissed quotes attributed to director Marco Fassone who was said to have confirmed the captures of Diego Laxalt, Hugo Campagnaro, Marco Andreolli, Ruben Botta and Mauro Icardi.
All five players have been strongly linked with the Nerazzurri and reports suggested that Fassone had made the moves official.
“Our finances don’t allow us to spend crazy money right now,” Fassone was said to have commented.
“But we have concluded five interesting signings for next season – Laxalt, Campagnaro, Andreolli, Botta and Icardi.”
Laxalt is an Uruguayan midfielder, born in February 1993, who is currently playing his football with Defensor.
Botta is another midfielder, an Argentine 23-year-old who has impressed with Boca Juniors and Tigre.
Fellow Argentine Icardi of Sampdoria has been linked since January. The striker is valued at around the €15m mark by the Marassi outfit.
Campagnaro and Andreolli are expected to be added to the defence and will arrive on Bosman free transfers from Napoli and Chievo respectively.
“Marco Fassone would like to clarify that he gave no such interview,” Inter made it clear on their website this afternoon.
