Inter have reportedly joined Newcastle United in the race to sign Atalanta full-back Robin Gosens.
The Germany winger has attracted interest from many clubs around Europe and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A champions have sounded out the defender’s availability with Atalanta.
Gosens is the only defender with Achraf Hakimi and Theo Hernandez to have contributed to at least nine goals in the opening 21 Serie A games in the last 15 years.
The pink paper also reports that the Magpies have offered Gosens a €3.5m-a-year deal, while Atalanta value the 27-year-old at €35m.
Newcastle can clearly afford a cash offer, while Inter can only sign the player on an initial loan deal, making his move permanent in the summer.
The Nerazzurri directors had a conference call with coach Simone Inzaghi yesterday to plan their transfer strategy for the last week of the January transfer window.
Inter will likely sign a new striker with Felipe Caicedo on top of their shopping list. The former Lazio striker has already agreed to reunite with his former coach Inzaghi at San Siro.
