Inter are still reportedly interested in Franck Kessie and could return to the idea of swapping Marcelo Brozovic for the Barcelona midfielder.
The Croatian veteran has started to slip down the pecking order in Simone Inzaghi’s squad, with Hakan Calhanoglu impressing in a deeper midfield position, limiting the 30-year-old to just 13 Serie A starts this season.
In the January transfer window, multiple reports suggested that Inter and Barcelona were interested in exchanging midfielders, sending Brozovic to Catalonia and Kessie back to Lombardy.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Barcelona are hoping to bring back Lionel Messi in the summer and so need to lighten their wage bill, reigniting the idea of exchanging Kessie for Brozovic.
Inter are still open to the deal, although Champions League qualification may prove the deciding factor.
Kessie is valued at around €30m and also has admirers in the Premier League, making a move from Barcelona in the summer likely.
Brozovic earns 0.5M less than Kessie, so that move is not going to help with the wage bill.
