Napoli intend to tighten their grip on talented youngster Lorenzo Insigne by handing him a new improved contract.

The 22-year-old Neapolitan, a product of the club’s youth system, will reportedly be handed a renewal until 2018. He will also net a pay rise.

“We already spoke about this with Napoli last season,” agent Antonio Ottaiano told Radio CRC. “The club intend to make adjustments to his deal.

“We’ll talk about this in the coming days, but I want to underline that this was already planned from last year.

“His relationship with Napoli will certainly continue because Insigne is part of the whole project at this club.”

The Under-21 international, who caught the eye in this month’s European Championship, returned to Naples in the summer after loan spells at Foggia and Pescara.

The attacker, already capped by Cesare Prandelli, scored five goals in 37 League games under Walter Mazzarri’s guidance.

Insigne, whose current deal runs until 2017, will be bossed by Rafael Benitez in the new season after Mazzarri opted to join Inter.
