Lorenzo Insigne’s agent has today come out in defence of the Napoli forward’s reaction to San Paolo jeers.
When substituted in yesterday’s 1-0 win over Lazio, the 22-year-old reacted poorly to abuse aimed at him, but for his agent, it was to what he saw as harsh treatment.
“We accept and know that the public has the right to boo or cheer their heroes,” Fabio Andreotti told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli today.

“Having said that, Lorenzo’s reaction after the substitution was probably down to the disappointment at how much abuse he received.
“Irrespective of how good his performance was, he said and still says that he showed maximum commitment and dedication to the cause.
“[Rafa] Benitez’s words at the end of the game highlight the importance of player-fan relationships.
“Every player expects fans to show support and help them overcome bad form during times of difficulty.
“He is still the same player he was and he knows he has not been playing his best but he has still given 100 per cent.
“Even Diego Maradona, the greatest player ever, was the target of abuse after being substituted once and at the time he said: ‘if you don’t believe in me, I’m ready to leave.’”
