Diego Milito believes Mauro Icardi’s goals will fire Inter back into the Champions League next season.
Inter have not qualified for the Champions League since 2011, when Milito was still their No 9, but the Argentine is confident Icardi will take on the mantle.
“These colours are inside of me. Together with my teammates, I was able to write history and achieve everything a player dreams of,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport on the Nerazzurri’s 110-year anniversary.

“I know I’m in the fans’ hearts, and they’ll always be in mine. Icardi? Mauro has done a lot for the team and with his goals, I’m sure we’ll return to the Champions League.
“Seven years without the CL? I don’t even want to think about it. Getting back there is too important. It would be like winning the Scudetto.
“It’ll be a fight with the two Roman clubs. We have the advantage that we’re not in any other competitions.
“It’s true that they can give you enthusiasm, but they take away so much energy too. “
