Mauro Icardi could leave Inter for Real Madrid at the end of the season if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, it’s reported.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentina international is losing patience with his club, as every summer there is a revamp.

Although Icardi has scored a remarkable 99 goals in 176 Serie A games, he has never featured in the Champions League.

As he turns 25 next month, Maurito is not willing to put that debut off for much longer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation and are fully prepared to pay the €110m release clause in June to get their new striker.

Similarly, Inter need to boost their revenue with Champions League qualification to balance the books, as they are unable to spend any money on the market this month due to Financial Fair Play parameters.

If Icardi were to stay on at Inter, he’d sign a new contract raising the release clause to €200m with a salary worth €9m per year.
