According to the Corriere dello Sport, Wanda Icardi called Moratti and is asking him to broker a deal, believing that the Italian may be a more direct route to contacting the new Chinese owners than the departing president Erick Thohir.
The Gazzetta dello Sport, on the other hand, relates that Moratti was contacted by Inter director Javier Zanetti, who asked him to smooth things over with the player. The 71-year-old then went on to call Icardi himself, although it's unknown what the two told each other.
Both versions may still be true, as they paint the same picture of the former president as a broker in the difficult deal.
