Inter striker Mauro Icardi claims Gonzalo Higuain is worth the €90m Juventus paid Napoli for his fellow Argentine over the summer.

Doubts remain over whether Juve were right to broker an Italian record deal for Higuain before the start of the season, given he turns 29 in December, but Icardi believes the Bianconeri were right to activate his compatriot’s release clause due to his goalscoring exploits of last term.

Doubts remain over whether Juve were right to broker an Italian record deal for Higuain before the start of the season, given he turns 29 in December, but Icardi believes the Bianconeri were right to activate his compatriot’s release clause due to his goalscoring exploits of last term.

“Higuain’s clause? He is worth €90m after 36 goals in Serie A,” he said at a Press conference ahead of Thursday’s Europa League curtain-raiser against Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

“My price is decided by my club, I’m happy to stay at Inter and I always give my best.

“Ronaldo [the former Inter man]? There’s no comparison, he’s the best striker that there ever was in football.

“It would be beautiful to lift a trophy with Inter, I want win with this team. When you win, the credit belongs to everyone, the [technical] staff and your teammates.

“All of us want to make a contribution. I’m comfortable with the formation, the 4-2-3-1, especially since there are so many players that can help me to score.

“Headed goals? It’s easier with Banega and Candreva. If we do the things that Mr. De Boer asks of us well then we can make life difficult for any team.”
