Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t be returning to Serie A this summer, as he’s signed a new contract with Manchester United.

The striker was a free agent after his previous contract expired, and he’s currently out of action with a cruciate ligament injury.

He was linked with a return to Milan, and agent Mino Raiola has said that the Swede is “in love” with Naples, leading to rumours he could move to Napoli.

However, it has been confirmed today that he’ll stay at Old Trafford for another year.

“Manchester United is delighted to announce that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will continue his journey with the club and has signed a one-year contract,” the Red Devils announced on their official website.

“He will wear the number 10 shirt. Ibrahimovic, 35, made 46 appearances and scored 28 goals for the club during the 2016/17 campaign before suffering a knee injury, which ended his season prematurely.”

Ibra also spoke about the deal, and revealed he always wanted to remain with Manchester United.

“I am back to finish what I started. It was always mine and the club's intention for me to stay. I cannot wait to get back out on that Old Trafford pitch, but I also know that I have to take my time to make sure that I am ready.”

Ibrahimovic also played for Juventus and Inter, winning a total of five Scudetti, though the two he won in Turin were later revoked.
