Ibrahimovic ‘disappointed’ but focused on ‘winning the Scudetto’

Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic admitted the Rossoneri are ‘disappointed about the exit’ from the Champions League but vowed to ‘give everything’ to win the Scudetto. ‘We will not give up’.

The Rossonri are first in the league after 16 games, one point above Inter and two points above Napoli.

But the performances in Italy didn’t translate to the European stage, as Milan returned to the Champions League for the first time in seven years.

Milan lost 2-1 to Liverpool on Tuesday and Atletico Madrid climbed to second with a win over FC Porto. The Rossoneri thus ended bottom in the group and can focus only on the domestic competitions.

Inter finished fourth in the group stage last term and won the Scudetto for the first time in 11 years. It has been as long since Milan won their last Scudetto in 2010-11 and Ibrahimovic has promised to fight for the title until the end.

“We are disappointed about the exit from the Champions League, we are very sorry, but we will fight to win the Scudetto,” Ibrahimovic told Radio Deejay. “We will do everything to win it and we will not give up.

“In failure there’s also success, we will grow and gain experience.”

Milan continue against Udinese, who play their first match with a new coach in charge, in Serie A this weekend.
