The Rossoneri were involved in a public pursuit of the Swedish striker, but Paris Saint-Germain appear unwilling to let him go.

However, Pier Silvio Berlusconi, vice-President of Mediaset, hints that a deal could still be possible.

“Maybe PSG will let him leave for free,” Berlusconi mused, presenting Mediaset’s autumn schedule.

“I never thought he’d come back, but Ibra would be the ideal player for this Milan. The operation is complicated though, in an economic sense too, but let’s see.

“As a fan, of course, I say maybe he’ll come back.”

Berlusconi also discussed the club’s new signings, as well as their aims for next season.

“Milan have to fight to at least return to the Europa League, though we should aim for the Champions League. We can do it with [new Coach Sinisa] Mihajlovic, he has character and determination.

“Bertolacci and Bacca? I know about the former, I followed him closely last season. He’s good, young and Italian, which is what we need.

“I don’t know as much about Bacca, so it’s hard to express an opinion, but I trust the people who bought him.”

However, the Diavolo President’s son had less kind words for Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli, who left San Siro last summer.

“Even I, who always defended him, can’t find anything positive to say anymore.”
