Reports suggest that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been left ‘annoyed’ by the rumours that Milan are looking to replace Stefano Pioli with Antonio Conte in the summer.
Pressure has been steadily building on Pioli following the Rossoneri’s fairly disappointing first half of the season, which has seen them fall behind in the Serie A title race and crash out of the Champions League at the group stage.
Conte was spotted having dinner with his regular staff in Milan on Thursday and reports the following day claimed Ibrahimovic considers the coach to be the perfect replacement for Pioli, who is seemingly on track to be dismissed in the summer.
As reported by Corriere della Sera and Gazzetta dello Sport, Ibrahimovic is unhappy about the rumours that he’s working to bring Conte to Milan, confused about the source of the reports. He hasn’t met with the coach since 2016 and the two haven’t been in contact.
The former striker has backed the Rossoneri’s current coach, making a simple but clear statement: “Stefano Pioli is our coach and we’re happy with him.”
