Beppe Iachini reveals Fiorentina have been ‘working with Gaetano Castrovilli to make him more effective in front of goal’ after a brace against Udinese.
The Viola ended their negative streak of results with a 3-2 victory, but it was very hard work in the final stages, as Castrovilli’s career first brace and a Nikola Milenkovic header proved decisive.
“We worked hard with Castrovilli in training to make him more effective in front of goal, because he has the quality and must continue like this,” said the coach in his press conference.
“It was a tense match. Jose Callejon is putting the effort in and trying to get back into shape. He played close to the striker at Real Madrid and that’s what we tried today.
“It’s a pity we lost German Pezzella to injury, as he is our captain and we were already missing Franck Ribery, they are leadership figures in the team.”
Fiorentina had a 3-1 lead, but were pegged back in their own half for the closing stages after Stefano Okaka made it 3-2.
“The lads were tense, as they really wanted to do well. We need to be more concentrated when defending and we are working on the details.
“Considering the performances over the first few rounds, I think we deserved more points.”
