How much Serie A clubs spent on agents’ fees in 2021

Serie A clubs spent €174m on agents’ fees in 2021, 26% more than in 2020, with Juventus, Inter and Roma the top three spenders last year.

Despite the financial crisis hitting Italian football, Serie A clubs spent more money on agent fees in 2021 than in the previous year.

As Calcio&Finanza highlights, the average spending of Serie A clubs on agent fees in 2021 is €8.7m. The tally includes negotiations for new signings, sales or contract extensions. Last year, Juventus paid almost €30m to agents, followed by Inter and Roma. There is a huge gap between the top three spenders and the other clubs. Milan are fourth with slightly more than €12m.

The Rossoneri saw Gigio Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu leave at the end of their contracts in the summer and agents’ fees are believed to be one of the reasons why the Rossoneri failed to extend with their former stars.

Napoli, who currently sit second in the Serie A table, are behind Atalanta, Fiorentina and Sampdoria have paid less than €7m to players’ representatives in 2021.
