England boss Roy Hodgson has admitted that he is ‘excited by the whole squad’ after their win over Peru.

The Three Lions beat their South American opponents at Wembley on Friday evening, thanks to goals from Daniel Sturridge, Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka.

But the Coach refused to single out any particular individuals for praise.

“I’m excited about them all [the whole squad],” he told reporters. “I don’t want to talk about individuals here and I’ll stick to it – I think I’ve got a good squad of players here with a good many talented and exciting players.

“It was good for Daniel to score that goal because every goal you score for England when you’re young is an important one, and it was the goal that unlocked the game.

“I’m happy with him but I’m no more happy with him than I am with other players.”
