The brother of Gonzalo Higuain has refuted suggestions that the Argentina international is looking to quit Napoli.
Federico Higuain, who plays in MLS for Columbus Crew, has insisted that rumours his brother is angling for a move after the Vesuviani’s failure to qualify for the Champions League are untrue.
“I have read and heard different things about my brother, but none of these things correspond to reality,” Federico has told Calciomercato today.
“People have spoken of the disappointment of not qualifying for the Champions League, and that this has caused resentment from Gonzalo.
“Nothing could be further from the truth. When I speak to my brother he is calm, and happy to wear the shirt of Napoli.
“His future is still with the Partenopei.”
Higuain was Napoli’s top scorer last season, scoring 17 goals in Serie A. However, the former Real Madrid man has been unable to find the net in the League so far this campaign.
“I don’t think I’m wrong when I say that my brother is one of the best strikers in world football,” Federico continued.
“During his career Gonzalo has scored a lot of goals, and in every way possible.
“Therefore it won’t be a problem for him to get back to scoring goals, and being as decisive as he was in recent seasons.”
