“We should’ve won against Bologna, but we have to turn our minds forward and immediately focus on Roma, avoiding the same mistakes,” Pipita told Sky Sport Italia.

“This is a very important game and we must win. Roma are a very strong side and we cannot underestimate them because of recent results.

“We have our motivation and our characteristics. We must get back to playing the kind of football that took us so high up the table.

“Edin Dzeko arrived in Italy, where it is very difficult to play football. He has a good foot and is strong in the air, so we must be wary of him.”

Higuain is Capocannoniere in Serie A so far this season and celebrated his 28th birthday on Thursday.

“My mentality has changed more than anything else. I am more calm and relaxed, perhaps also because the results are arriving now.

“I spoke to Maurizio Sarri in a private meeting pre-season and in a few minutes he convinced me to stay. In three years at Napoli I have matured and learned from my mistakes.

“From my first day here my mind was focused on making history at Napoli. This is why I came here. It’s not pressure so much as motivation.

“Antonio Careca? He was a great centre-forward and the comparison is wonderful. I try to be myself and prove to everyone what I can do.”
