Marek Hamsik believes Napoli can climb back up the table before Christmas with “six points against Roma and Genoa.”

The Partenopei have flown through to the Champions League knockouts, but neglected their Serie A duties with some very poor results, leaving them seven points adrift of third place.

“We want six points against Roma and Genoa to close on the top of the table,” Hamsik wrote on his official website.

“We wanted to beat Novara at all costs, but at the end of the day were only able to get a draw, as we couldn’t finish off our chances.

“There were so many scoring opportunities and we were unable to finish them off.”

Hamsik changed position in Novara, playing in deeper midfield to make way for Goran Pandev.

“It’s absolutely not a problem for me to play in that role. I always think of the team first and foremost. I’ll play wherever the Coach wants me to.”
