Napoli’s Marek Hamsik has accepted last night’s shock 1-1 home draw with bottom of the table Sassuolo.
The Azzurri lost their Serie A leadership on Wednesday after Eusebio Di Francesco’s men picked up their first point of the season.
“There are no easy games in this Division,” the attacking midfielder noted. “After losing 7-0 at the weekend, Sassuolo tried three times harder against us.
“Everyone thought these would be three easy points, but we knew that would not be the case,” added the former Brescia man.
“We could have done more. We didn’t press as we should have. We started well, but we became disjointed after the goal. We lacked brilliance.
“Sassuolo defended well, they changed shape, but we are the only ones to blame.”
Hamsik, whose side are two points behind Roma, is now just focusing on Week 6 of the campaign.
“It’s a shame, we’re disappointed about the result, but now we need to concentrate on the next game against Genoa,” he added.
“We’re not angry, but we are evidently not satisfied either. It’s not the end of the world, but we could have done better.”
