Fabio Grosso has reportedly agreed to take over as the new coach of Sampdoria, so his rival Francesco Farioli is now the favourite for the OGC Nice job.

Recently relegated Samp needed a tactician to start the new era under patron Andrea Radrizzani, who rescued the club from relegation.

Grosso left Frosinone after securing their promotion to the top flight and was immediately the first choice for the Blucerchiati, until problems emerged over the last few days.

Farioli had become a real contender, but now Calciomercato.com assure Grosso has resolved the issues with Sampdoria and will sign on at Marassi.

Instead, reports in France point towards Italian Farioli being the favourite for the role at Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.

Farioli is only 34 years old and found fame as coach of Fatih Karagumruk and then Alanyaspor in Turkey.

He had been part of Roberto De Zerbi’s coaching staff at Benevento and Sassuolo.
