“The lads had a great match tonight,” the Coach told reporters after the match.
“They rewrote history. Like Bari [in 1984], we’re a Lega Pro side in the semi-final of the Coppa Italia.
“Thanks go to [former Coach Giuseppe] Scienza and his staff, without their work we wouldn’t be here.
“My lads made it not only as players, but as men. They’re honouring the shirt and the club.
“This is one of the best evenings of my sporting career, the dedication for tonight goes to a lad I coached who is no longer with us, Piermario Morosini.
“The game itself? We never lost our composure, even after going behind we never gave up, we fought for every ball.
“Spezia took the lead and tried to hold on to it, but we passed a big test.
“My lads were wonderful tonight, and from tomorrow we’ll have to go back to talking about our difficult League, because our opponents will be waiting for us now.”
