Alberto Gilardino “really needed this new challenge” at Empoli, as the veteran “still has passion, hunger and the desire to do well.”
The 34-year-old arrived as a free agent after he was released by Palermo.
“I want to achieve safety for Empoli, which is the fundamental thing. Then my personal objectives are just a consequence of that,” Gila told Mediaset Premium.

The 34-year-old arrived as a free agent after he was released by Palermo.
“I want to achieve safety for Empoli, which is the fundamental thing. Then my personal objectives are just a consequence of that,” Gila told Mediaset Premium.
“I still have passion, hunger and the desire to do well. It will be a tough challenge, but I like that kind of challenge, they make me feel alive as a player and that’s what I needed this season.
“I feel good, want to play and score goals. I hope to find the right level of consistency.”
Empoli stuttered so far this season, losing both their opening Serie A fixtures.
“We are all furious about that, but I have to say the environment is positive here and that allows us to work with great passion. We’ve worked on the little things we got wrong and have the right approach ahead of the clash with Crotone.
“We have the utmost faith in the Coach and he feels the same way about us.”
