Alberto Gilardino has taken to social media to confirm he has signed for Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande.
The 32-year-old joins Marcello Lippi’s side from Genoa and, in a message posted on Twitter, he thanked his fans and friends for all the support they have given him throughout his career in his homeland.
“To my dear fans and friends. This morning I signed with Guangzhou and a new adventure will begin for me,” Gilardino wrote.
“I really want to thank all of you, you have given me so much over these years. I had the chance to leave in December, to Canada, but I refused because I was dreaming of the Azzurri.
“With this dream gone, I aimed for the target of getting to know a new life and footballing culture, so I have made this decision.”
