Roma winger Gervinho has hit out at Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, saying he 'never had confidence in me'.
The Ivorian spent two seasons at Arsenal before moving to the Giallorossi in an €8m deal, and has compared Gunners manager Wenger unfavourably with Lupi Coach Rudi Garcia.
“He [Wenger] never had confidence in me,” Gervinho is reported as telling African media by the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Garcia doesn’t differentiate between those who are playing and those who aren’t playing. That’s important for a player.
“He doesn’t only speak to those who are playing, he talks to everyone as there are 25 players in the squad, not just 11.
“As a child I dreamed of playing for Arsenal, because I loved them.
“Now I don't hate them for the way Wenger treated me.
“However, I regretted leaving the club after such a short time without being able to show my worth, which I’m now doing at Roma instead.”
The 27-year-old also reflected on the Giallorossi’s Champions League exit, insisting they can still have a great season.
“Even if things didn’t go well in the Champions League, this can still be a great season. We must have faith in Garcia.”
