Genoa youngster Alberto Marchiori caused concern and halted play during his side’s match with Inter after collapsing on the sidelines.

The Grifone’s primavera captain, who was an unused substitute during his side’s 1-0 defeat to Inter, reportedly fell ill towards the closing stages of the game before collapsing pitchside, having fainted.

Medical staff were immediately on hand, whilst referee Luca Banti halted play for four minutes as the 18-year-old received treatment before being taken away on a stretcher.

Initial post-match reports indicate there is nothing serious to Marchiori’s condition with the episode being put down to a mild drop in blood pressure.
