Sky Sport Italia are confident Genoa will reach a deal with Napoli to sign Alessandro Gamberini before the transfer window closes.
The Rossoblu are looking for a new centre-back after they sold Andreas Granqvist to Russian club Krasnodar last week.
The stopper, formerly of Bologna and Fiorentina, could join the Marassi outfit on loan for the 2013-14 campaign.
Gamberini’s exit in Naples would be covered by the proposed arrival of Cagliari’s Italian international Davide Astori.
Gamberini, an Italian international himself, signed a two-year deal with the Azzurri – with the option for a third – following his 2012 move from Fiorentina.
The 31-year-old started his career in the Bologna youth system.
