“I don’t give a damn about our elimination from the Coppa Italia, as it is a tournament without interest or appeal,” Preziosi told La Nazione newspaper.
“The only thing that counts for me is the game with Milan. We want to beat the Rossoneri and I am convinced they are well within our reach.
“They might have top level players, but the fact remains Torres scores less than Pinilla and Matri. The gap between Milan and Genoa has been reduced compared to a few years ago.”
The statistics do back Preziosi up, as Torres has scored only one Serie A goal in 10 appearances for Milan since arriving on loan from Chelsea.
On the other hand, Matri has netted six in 11 games and Pinilla three in 10 matches.
The Grifone are flying high in joint third place with Napoli and are unbeaten in two months of Serie A football.
With Milan and Inter both struggling to get back on their feet, Preziosi can see a revolution in the Italian football hierarchy.
“Inter and Milan have lost quality. The only difference I see between us and them is in terms of revenue, not the talent in the squads.”
