Genoa have confirmed the signing of Iago Falque from Tottenham Hotspur, for a deal believed to be worth in the region of €5m.

The Grifone were seen as closing in on the 24-year-old Spaniard and have now confirmed his capture from the Premier League.

“Genoa Cricket and Football Club announces that it has acquired outright from Tottenham Hotspur the rights to player Iago Falque,” reads Genoa’s statement released on Friday morning.

“The player has carried out examinations and has now begun to undergo tests for sporting condition.”

Falque spent his youth career at Real Madrid and then Barcelona, before Juventus picked him up in 2008.

However, failing to make an appearance for the senior side, the winger moved out to Spurs two years ago, but also struggled to make an impact in England and had three loan spells during his time there.

No fee is mentioned, but it is understood that Genoa may be paying as much as €5m for this transfer.
