The Rossoneri lost their first Serie A match of the season at San Paolo last weekend, and are looking to get back on track tomorrow night.

“We’re preparing for a match against an opponent with very different characteristics,” Gattuso warned in his pre-match Press conference.

“We have to pay attention to Dzeko. They have quick players, they’re good on the break, and they’ve got tall players so we need to be very careful on dead balls and pay close attention.

“In terms of mentality very little will change, we always have to go into a game with balance and not feel like it’s a scrap.

“Against Napoli saw the real Milan for 60 minutes. When we keep the ball, when we make our opponents think, it’s hard to play against us.

“We ran more than Napoli, the problem is how you run. That’s why I say we have to play on 25-30 metres, when we go chasing it and just swing crosses in that’s where our problems come from.”

Gianluigi Donnarumma made some high-profile mistakes last season, and he didn’t cover himself in glory on Napoli’s equaliser.

“If the goal for 2-2 didn’t deflect of [Giacomo] Bonaventura he’d have saved it. Two out of three times that ball would go out, the other it’ll go where it did.

“We can’t single one person out for blame, on the third goal everyone fell asleep. There was an individual error, but I’m happy with Donnarumma.

“He definitely could have done better on the second goal, but there was a deflection and that made it difficult.”

Of the expected European contenders, only Juventus and Napoli have won their opening two games…

“When you play friendlies there is not the same adrenaline and the same mental stress,” Gattuso said.

“When you go to play in passionate stadiums then you pay for that. It’s true. Even Juventus struggled against Chievo, then Fiorentina took six off them.”
