“Atalanta didn’t start all that brilliantly, it was us who made the mistakes for their goals,” Gattuso told DAZN.

Napoli were on a five-match winning run going into the game and had just won the Coppa Italia, but their Champions League hopes were seemingly ended by a second-half Atalanta salvo.
“Atalanta didn’t start all that brilliantly, it was us who made the mistakes for their goals,” Gattuso told DAZN.
“We talked too much, I’m furious. We had the game in our hands and we scored the first goal for them.
“There was too much talk from us, we should’ve done things better. In the first half we did well, but we still made mistakes in the final third.
“Given the players we have, we should be doing much better. You can make mistakes, but it’s after our mistakes that we started to lose energy with the referee or linesman.
“We mustn’t give up, I don’t want us to suffer any drops. Today, the team thought about complaining and not playing. I didn’t like their attitude.”
The former Milan boss then highlighted the need for his side to bounce back quickly, a month before the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Barcelona gets under way.
“We must try to get to the game in the best possible condition. Tonight I’m angry because we had the game in our hands and threw it away.”
