Federico Gatti admitted Inter stars Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram are ‘difficult to mark’ as he and Juventus prepare for battle in the Derby d’Italia.
The Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri will battle it out on Sunday at 19.45 UK time at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan. When they met back in November in Turin, they shared a point apiece after a goalless draw.
Inter enter the derby with a one-point lead over Juventus, taking advantage of their rivals’ disappointing draw with Empoli last weekend. Simone Inzaghi’s side also have a game in hand, adding a slight complication to the title race.
Inzaghi and his Juventus counterpart Massimiliano Allegri both stated in their press conferences that this weekend’s derby clash wouldn’t be decisive in their fight for the Scudetto this season.
Speaking to the Serie A media department via TMW, Gatti first discussed the pressures associated with playing for Juventus.
“Before I watched the matches just as an ordinary fan, now instead I experience them on the pitch.
“At Juventus there are pressures that cannot be explained, it’s not how to play in other teams, even though in Serie A I have only played here so far. We have to keep our feet on the ground and get as high as possible.”
He gave his thoughts on the coming Derby d’Italia with Inter.
“A very heartfelt and beautiful match. San Siro is one of the most beautiful of Europe. In my opinion, two strongest teams in Italy, however, for me, it’s not a decisive match because there are still many points at stake.”
Finally, Gatti discussed the strengths of Inter and his next goals in his career.
“Lautaro and Thuram are two very strong forwards, difficult to mark. They complement each other, they have different characteristics, but the whole of Inter are strong. They’re very solid, but we’ll see… The next chapter of my career is to lift a trophy, I’m sure it will happen.”
Great goal for Inter Gatti! Didn’t he score another suspicious O/G earlier this season …betting investigation?
