Gian Piero Gasperini is confident Genoa can turn things around after losing the derby to Sampdoria, their fifth consecutive defeat.
The Grifone had been trailing 3-0, but managed to set up a tense finale with a 3-2 scoreline.
“The team did get back into the game and threatened to equalise. Over the 90 minutes we made big mistakes and they proved decisive, but we never stopped playing,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“Am I at risk? It’s not for me to say, this is a season where we have to focus on Serie A survival. After five consecutive defeats, clearly that is an alarm bell.
“Why would I take a step back? The situation is not positive, we are paying a heavy price for errors that then force us to perform huge feats to get back into a game. It became difficult, but the lads deserved to get a point tonight.
“We’ve lost three home games in a row and our stadium must get back to being a fortress. We are in a phase where the team can be improved on the transfer market and staying in Serie A is within our reach.”
Diego Perotti missed the derby due to a ban, but is expected to leave for Roma within days.
“He is an important player, but we will emerge reinforced from this January transfer window,” assured Gasperini.
“I am certain of that. I don’t know what will happen with Perotti, that’s a decision for the President, but at the end of the transfer window Genoa will be better than in the first half of the season.”
