“The problems really began against Carpi. It’s difficult to comment on the Bologna game. We have to get back on track with determination, but knowing we are in an injury crisis.”
Ultras released a statement criticising Gasperini and President Enrico Preziosi after three consecutive Serie A defeats and a 2-1 home loss to third division Alessandria in the Coppa Italia.
“On one hand I understand the disappointment of the fans, as I am really upset too. On the other who drew up that statement was offensive to me and said things that are not true.
“We face Roma without fear. This is a team that has put in good performances and the results did not always reflect that.
“This squad has always left the field with heads held high and quite rightly the players have been ‘saved’ from the protest.
“I remain convinced we’ll do well this season. We will do everything we need to do and be able to overturn a disappointing situation.”
Diego Perotti and Leonardo Pavoletti are both suspended, joining injured Nicolas Andre Burdisso, Tino Costa and Giovanni Marchese.
Blerim Dzemaili and Ezequiel Munoz are in the squad, but not 100 per cent fit.
