Adriano Galliani thinks Andriy Shevchenko could have made an impression on Serie A’s all-time top scorers’ list had he not left Milan.
Roma’s Francesco Totti last night drew level with second-placed Gunnar Nordahl thanks to goal number 225 in Serie A.
But Galliani thinks that the Ukrainian legend, 127 goals in 226 League games for the Diavolo, could have reached similar numbers had he not left Milan for Chelsea in 2006.
“Totti is monstrous,” the Rossoneri Vice-President stated on Monday. “He’s caught up with Nordahl who was our striker and now there is only Silvio Piola ahead of him [on 274].
“I compliment him. But I’ll always have the regret that my friend Andriy asked to leave us as he would have probably surpassed these numbers.”
Milan beat Lazio 3-0 on Saturday night, their 10th win from their last 14 which has turned around their season.
“We just need to continue doing well. Milan’s fightback started in the last 15 minutes of the 3-2 loss against Lazio.
“There is no regret about the start of the season. It was clear that we would need time after making so many changes.”
Giampaolo Pazzini was the hero at the weekend as he scored twice, goals which may earn him a new deal.
“Pazzini has always scored goals and I spoke to him before we signed Mario Balotelli in January. He has a contract and so there are no problems.
“Massimiliano Allegri also has a contract with us. He had the qualities to be our Coach and he’s proving that now.
“He’s marching towards the 40 point mark in the second half of the season. He’s a good Coach.”
