Adriano Galliani trusts “Diego Lopez and Pablo Armero will do very well” after completing their Milan moves.
The goalkeeper arrived on a permanent transfer from Real Madrid, while the Colombian full-back is on loan from Udinese.
“I believe very much in both players,” CEO Galliani told Milan Channel.
“They are two athletes we know very well, that we kept an eye on, appreciate and I think they will do very well.”
Galliani was at pains to point out his close ties with Real Madrid were crucial in helping the Diego Lopez deal go through.
“I don’t want to take the credit, but the ease of the rapport with Real Madrid, the friendship and many other things probably helped.
“We had watched Diego Lopez, asked Carlo Ancelotti about him, but above all William Vecchi, because he trained him in Madrid and nobody can know his qualities better.
“Vecchi is convinced he is a truly great goalkeeper. Today Daniele Tognaccini was enthusiastic at the medical and athletic tests performed by Diego Lopez.”
The other new arrival today is Armero, who joins on a one-season loan from Udinese, though he could’ve come eight months ago.
“In January the deal was practically concluded, but then the exchange collapsed because Kevin Constant refused,” confirmed Galliani.
“Now that Constant has left, we went back to Armero. Cristian Zapata is more like a brother to him than a teammate. Armero also said Mario Yepes spoke very highly of Milan.”
