Barring long-term casualty Riccardo Montolivo, the Rossoneri could travel to Verona on Sunday with a full-strength selection of players to pick from.
This is after Diego Lopez and Jeremy Menez resumed full training this week, and it fills the club’s CEO with optimism.
“Menez has been training all day. For the first time, touch wood, I saw 27 players out of the 28 train.
“Only Montolivo was out – this is the first time it's happened this season,” Galliani has told Milan Channel after observing training today.
“In the past, we only had [a full squad] on the eve of a Champions League Final, when suddenly all the players were fine. Now, we have 27 in the group, so it is very positive news.
“What's really great about this year is the fantastic cohesion that exists between ourselves. We have so many players at the moment that, if anything, we will sell [in January].”
Verona-Milan encounters are especially significant due to the historic connotations of the fixture, and Galliani revealed how President Silvio Berlusconi guided the players through a pep-talk on this topic during his Friday visit.
“The President reminded us of the historic difficulty of this game. He recalled that Milan missed out on two League titles because of Verona,” he added.
“Anyone who is not young enough to recall [what happened in] 1973 surely remembers 1990.
“This morning I spoke to Arrigo Sacchi about 1990. That year we were one step away from winning the Scudetto, Champions League and Coppa Italia.
“We won the Champions League Final but lost the title, and we lost the second leg of the Coppa Italia to Juventus, but it was still a great year.”
