According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Maurizio Sarri was furious with Lazio players in the aftermath of a 3-1 loss against Atalanta and told them: ‘If you think I am the problem, show some balls and tell Lotito.’

The Biancocelesti are currently outside a European placement in Serie A, sitting ninth with a game in hand. They are five points below fourth-placed Atalanta, who beat them 3-1 on Sunday.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Sarri is unhappy with the attitude of some players and the coach didn’t hide his frustration on Monday, the day after their loss in Bergamo.

The report claims Sarri was so upset that he told his players: “If you think I am the problem, show some balls and tell Lotito.”

Sarri is under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until June 2025 and although pressure is mounting on the Tuscan tactician, Lotito has reiterated that he’s not going to sack him in the middle of the season.

Lazio have won 10 Serie A games from 22 this season, drawing four and losing eight times.

Despite their highs and lows in Serie A, they have qualified for the Coppa Italia semi-finals and the Champions League Round of 16.
