Avellino insist there is “nothing definitive yet” on Marcello Trotta’s proposed transfer to Frosinone.
The Italy Under-21 international striker has been pin-pointed as the ideal reinforcement in January.
“At the moment there is nothing definitive yet, despite what I read in some of the papers,” Avellino President Walter Taccone told TG24.info.
“It’s well known I have a splendid rapport with Frosinone President Maurizio Stirpe, but we cannot go forward if we don’t get the all-clear from the player and his entourage.
“As of today, nothing has been clarified, so the situation is in stand-by. I think the negotiations will evolve fairly quickly, whether it’s a positive or negative outcome.”
Trotta is 23 years old and spent most of his career in England with Fulham, Wycombe Wanderers, Watford, Brentford and Barnsley.
He finally came to Italy for Avellino in January 2015 for just €700,000.
Trotta has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 21 competitive games for Avellino this season.
He also has three goals in nine caps for the Italy Under-21 squad.
