Fiorentina’s Andrea Della Valle and select club executives have today met to discuss transfer plans for this January.

On from losing Giuseppe Rossi to a knee injury for potentially a few months and seeing Mario Gomez’s return remain uncertain, reports continue to speculate over La Viola’s ideas of finding a replacement.

Club patron Andrea Della Valle, technical director Eduardo Macia, President Mario Cognigni and director general Sandro Mencucci were among those this morning to have held a meeting, believed set to determine exactly their possible options for action this January.

The club have been linked with the likes of Papu Gomez, Antonio Di Natale and Stevan Jovetic to come in.

Andrea Della Valle alluded to Fiorentina’s plans after yesterday’s Coppa Italia win over Chievo, but ruled out Jovetic’s return.

“[Thursday] we begin to plan for the situation,” Della Valle told reporters.

“If there is not the quality there, then it is useless to act. Let us hope that Rossi’s injury does not limit our chances this season.

“I am confident in the work of [sporting director Daniele] Prade and Macia. Many teams do not want to release their players in January, it is not a question of money.

“Jovetic and Mutu? We remain friendly with them, but they are difficult. JoJo is impossible, The regret is there, the anger is still so much for the injury to Rossi.”

Coach Vincenzo Montella, speculated as also having his say today, commented on possible transfer activity yesterday too.
